Have a Green Christmas

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Recycle your tree – Recycled trees put natural resources back into the environment and reduce waste.

Wrap it up - Reuse smooth, unwrinkled wrapping paper to wrap smaller presents or make homemade cards. Consider using holiday fabric as wrapping paper as it can be used year after year and is usually reasonably priced.

Re-gift – It might sound terrible but passing along gifts that you don’t need is a great idea. Simply donate unwanted items to charity if you don’t know anyone personally that would make use of them.

Energy Awareness – Unplug appliances when not in use and try switching to LED Christmas lights. Not only will you be conserving energy but this can really save you on you electric bill.

Decorations – Use seasonal fruits and nuts such as pomegranates and chestnuts for decoration which can be eaten afterwards. Pine cones and holly branches are also nice natural touches.

Gift Giving – Giving experiences such as dinner to a new restaurant, tickets to a rock concert, or cooking lessons are great alternatives to material gifts. Memberships to gyms, museums, or local food co-ops are gifts that keep on giving. Personalized coupons can be made for just about anything form a massage to a car washing.

Benefits of Artificial Christmas Trees

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Why an artificial tree makes so much sense – Today there are nearly three times as many artificial trees sold than real trees!  Some of the reasons so many people have embraced the lifelike trees are…

-Reduced risk of fire

-Less expensive per year

-No need to water

-Easier to put up and take down

-Ability to leave tree up longer

-Little or no clean up

-Non-Allergenic

-No “bad side” or crooked trunk

-And the main reason…most come with commercial grade lights professionally installed.
